Each expression or facial movement, whether it be a smile or a frown, causes muscle movement which makes the skin crease and fold. These folds are called dynamic lines.
As we age the gradual loss of collagen and elastin in the skin, in addition to repeated muscle movements, are major contributors to forming facial creases and lines.
At Auspoint Medical cosmetic Clinic (AMCC) we aim to improve these problems with our wrinkle relaxer treatment.
How Wrinkle Relaxers Work
Wrinkle relaxers work by temporarily obstructing the signals between the nerves and the muscles, causing the muscles beneath the lines to relax, therefore reducing those lines.
Experiencing limited facial expressions or that ‘frozen’ look are minimised as the process aims to decrease muscle activity that’s responsible for lines and creases.

What Can Wrinkle Relaxers Treat?
Wrinkle relaxers are most effective at treating and softening the signs of ageing. Therefore at AMCC, we use our wrinkle relaxer treatment to address the following concerns:
It is preferable not to take blood-thinning or anti-inflammatory medications a week prior to treatment, but strictly only if agreed to by the doctor who prescribed the medication.
Avoid wearing makeup on the day of treatment.
Treatment
Your AMCC doctor will use a very fine needle to inject small amounts of muscle relaxants into the target muscle(s).
Pain is not commonly experienced at this stage but if it is, applying a cold pack to the treated area can reduce pain.
Post Treatment
After treatment, our team can offer guidance and compose a comprehensive post treatment package to maximise your results. This Includes:
Avoid rubbing/massaging the treated area for 4 hours after treatment.
Do not lie face down for 4 hours after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
